Our flowering cherry finally started to flower. The buds had been almost glowing in preparation of opening and finally they started to open. Spring is around the corner.
Another good sign of spring in the changing weather patterns. The cirrus clouds start coming from the southwest and foretelling a change of weather patterns. In the Pacific Northwest, cirrus clouds from the southwest usually mean moisture from the sky within a day and a half. My grandfather called them horsetails. Cirrus comes from a Latin word for ringlets or curling hair. They will always be horsetails to me. Both grandpa and my father used to pass along the weather forecast by looking at the clouds. Most of the time they were right. And that was before satellite and radar.
