About These Photographs
San Juan Island National Historic Park, Washington
Leave it to the Americans to find the starkest and loneliest part of the island to set up camp. Their opponents, the British, were set up in a beautiful lagoon with running water and protection from the weather a few miles north of here. Yes, to those that do not know, the Americans and British were pitted against each other in international conflict and shots were fired in 1859. The only casualty was a pig.
